3.1.1 According to whether there are submarine repeaters，submarine cable systems can be categorized into repeatered submarine cable systems and repeaterless submarine cable systems.
3.1.2 A repeatered submarine cable system should be composed of SLTE，PFE，LME，network management equipment，optical submarine repeater，BU，gain equalizer，submarine cable，cable joint，sea earth，land optical/power cable.
3.1.3 A repeaterless submarine cable system should be composed of SLTE，network management equipment，BU，submarine cable，submarine cable joint，land optical/power cable，etc..
3.1.4 According to the type of the terminal equipment，submarine cable systems can be categorized into SDH systems and WDM systems.
