译文根据威廉·莫利斯沃斯爵士（Sir William Molesworth）编辑、1840年伦敦版《霍布斯英文文集》（English Works of Thomas Hobbes of Malmesbury）第六卷收录的《贝希摩斯：英国内战缘由史，以及1640—1660年引发这些事件的商谈和诡计》（Behemoth：the history of the causes of the civil wars of England, and of the counsels and artifices by which they were carried on from the year 1640 to the year 1660）翻译，并参照保罗·西沃德（Paul Seaward）编辑、2010年克拉伦登出版社出版的历史考订版《贝希摩斯或长期议会》（Behemoth or the Long Parliament）修订。
